Unfortunately, dogs love to eat hearing aids! If, despite your efforts to keep your devices stored securely, your dog got a hold of one, collect all the pieces and notify your audiologist… and your veterinarian!

Hearing aid manufacturers are sometimes able to repair devices that appear to be totally destroyed. If the aid is damaged beyond repair, it might be covered by the manufacturer’s loss and damage warranty. If no warranty is in effect, or if the instrument cannot be repaired, check with your homeowner’s/renter’s insurance agent, to see if replacement might be possible through your policy.

Of course, it is always best to avoid damage by storing your hearing aids securely, in a place where Fido cannot get to them!
