The best thing you can do is to encourage your Dad to have a hearing evaluation and start to use hearing aids consistently. Your Dad’s poor hearing affects everyone around him. You may become annoyed when you must repeat things or speak loudly. He may think that “young people today just don’t speak as clearly as they did in my day; everybody mumbles!” When he misses part of the conversation, he will feel left out, isolated and perhaps even suspicious that family members are not including him in conversation.
